David Schmitt, the Barcelona-based artist who works under the name Tuyo, draws on the basic shapes of folk art and cave painting in his print set and cards launched at Atelier Sukha, the clothing and home goods store in Amsterdam, Netherlands, from Aug. 19 to 21, 2026. The prints often reproduce linocuts or paintings in sand, gesso, and acrylics on raw burlap canvas.
“I have always been drawn to storytelling in painting,” he says on his website. “For me, it sits somewhere between folk-, pop-, and cave art — something deeply human. My work can be read as a love letter to all forms of traditional craftsmanship, as I believe that preserving the involvement of the human hand and mind, with all its imperfections, is a way of preserving the soul in the world around us.”
