Each year the Boston Society of Architects’ “Gingerbread Design Competition and Exhibition”–on view at BSA Space, 290 Congress St., Boston, from Dec. 7, 2019, to Jan. 2, 2020–invites local landscape and architecture firms to demonstrate their talents by creating cookie renditions of real and fantasy landmarks.

For this year’s eighth annual competition, participating firms were challenged to construct gingerbread structures inspired by their favorite world monuments. The results range from the Eiffel Tower to the Taj Mahal to Paul Rudolph’s Government Service Building in Boston, which is threatened with alteration or destruction under a proposed redevelopment plan.

The contest is also a fund-raiser–vote with your dollars–to raise money to support community design initiatives of the Boston Society for Architecture.
