Massachusetts cultural organizations have lost more than $264,000,000 in revenue due to coronavirus, according to the Massachusetts Cultural Council.

“More than half of the organizations responding report layoffs, furloughs, and reductions in pay and working hours, affecting more than 15,000 jobs,” the state arts agency reported. “91% of all respondents report cancelling programming and events, and 95% of organizations with facilities report closing their facility to the public.”

The Massachusetts Cultural Council reported that the information comes from some 700 organizations responding to its surveys between March 16 and 22 and April 4 and 14.
