When a Trump mob attacked and overran the U.S. Capitol to try to stop confirmation of Joe Biden’s victory in the 2020 presidential election on Wednesday, Jan. 6, 2021, it was videoed by participants, journalists, victims and many more. To try to better understand what happened, I’ve collected many of those videos here to show how eyewitnesses to the attack saw it. I’ve tried to put the clips in rough chronological order, but the timing of much of the footage is inexact. I’ve endeavored as much as possible to draw on reputable sources, but I’ve not personally verified the content of the videos. Also there are a lot of clips so they may load slowly or incorrectly. Be warned: Some of the videos are extremely, graphically violent–including the violent beating of police and the shooting death of a member of the Trump mob.

Part One: Trump supporters fly into D.C., Trump’s speech, march to Capitol, Trump mob breeches first police line.

Part Two: Trump mob attacks journalists and police, breaks through final police line outside Capitol building, D.C. police defending West Terrace doors are beaten up but successfully hold back mob, West Virginia lawmaker raids Capitol.

Part Three: Trump mob invades Capitol building, Capitol Police Officer Eugene Goodman leads mob away from Senate, lawmakers evacuated and go into hiding, “It is not an exaggeration to say that many, many members of the House were nearly assassinated,” Democratic congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez of New York says.

Part Four: Trump mob rampages inside Capitol building, arrives at Congressional chambers.

Part Five: Trump mob attacks Speaker’s Lobby and one member of them is shot dead.

Part Six: Republicans sheltering from mob refuse to wear coronavirus masks; offices of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Jeff Merkley and others attacked; Trump mob chants “Hang Mike Pence.”

Part Seven: “You’re on the wrong side,” Trump mob tells police, mob attacks journalists, reinforcements arrive, Trump mob relaxes in hotel lobby afterward,  police detain journalist, joint session of Congress resumes to certify Joe Biden’s victory in presidential election.
