“We are here today because we believe in the rule of law and we have a president who does not,” said Myra Slotnick, one of the organizers of “Rally To Protect Mueller & Rosenstein – You Can’t Fire The Truth,” told the crowd of thousands—probably upwards of 5,000—on Boston Common near the Massachusetts Statehouse just after dark this evening. “President Trump is not above the law. The Mueller investigation must continue to be protected in the Justice Department. … Whoever oversees the Mueller investigation must be an impartial public servant.”
The rally was prompted by the president’s firing of U.S. Attorney General Jeff Sessions yesterday.
“Hands off Robert Mueller!” the crowd chanted.
“Step up Congress! Do Your Job!” the crowd chanted.
Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan told the crowd, “We do not let the person who is the target of the investigation dictate how the investigation is run.”
