“We didn’t say they could have fascists come teach here. This is our institution,” Ed Childs, chief steward of Local 26 of the Harvard University dining hall workers, told a couple hundred people standing in pouring rain tonight for the “Protest Trump Advisers and White Supremacy at Harvard” rally at the door to Harvard’s Kennedy School of Government in Cambridge. “They try to bring that fascist Bannon here. … The administration here has no right to invite these people. … This is our institution. This is our country. We’re not going to let them do this to our country.”
Steve Bannon, “chief strategist” for Donald Trump and other advisors to the president-elect had been invited to speak at a conference at the Cambridge school. Bannon reportedly canceled, but other Trump advisors were still scheduled to appear.
But the crowd on JFK Street, which charged Trump and his advisors with being anti-Semetic, anti-immigrant and racist, chanted, “Trump says, ‘Go back.’ We say, ‘Fight back!’”
