The featured artists are Laylah Ali, Carla Edwards, Alex Jackson, Steve Locke, Simonette Quamina, Kenny Rivero, Jordan Seaberry and Lachell Workman. “The New England-based artists in this exhibition have developed languages that recontextualize, reimagine and upend various forms of codes that we have become familiar with over time. Color, in particular, is one form of coding that the artists use as a building block to explore various aesthetic, emotive and psychological experiences. The artists in this show exhibit a range of artistic, technical and conceptual prowess in their work and use color as a character, a trickster, a device and a provocation.”

Previously: Steve Locke Addresses Freddie Gray, The Boston Library And Boston’s Complicity In Slavery In New Public Artworks

Help Wonderland keep producing our great coverage of local arts, cultures and activisms (and our great festivals) by contributing to Wonderland on Patreon.
