Twice this fall, the 5-Year-Old visited \u201cSpace: An Out-of-Gravity Experience,\u201d<\/a>\u00a0which is on view at Boston\u2019s Museum of Science through Jan. 1, 2019. It offers informational exhibits, games and interactive components that introduce you to the challenges and wonders of life aboard the International Space Station. The 5-Year-Old was particularly engaged by the hands-on activities\u2014from trying on a space suit glove to sitting in a space restroom to building a model rocket propelled by air toward a model Mars. Here are the highlights according to the 5-Year-Old:<\/em><\/p>\n

\u2022 \u201cMake a rocket. Put only one little thing on because then it will get to Saturn. Then test it. If it doesn\u2019t work, do it again.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u201cTry the space potty. Break the rules and poop in it if you have to go to the bathroom. And then they\u2019re like, \u2018Who pooped in this thing?\u2019 Or you get arrested by the police.\u201d That\u2019s a terrible idea.<\/em> \u201cYeah, I know.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u201cTry the space ride,\u201d a rotating, life-sized model that you can enter that depicts a corridor in the International Space Station.<\/em> \u201cIt seems like you\u2019re spinning and it’s creaking and sometimes you get a little dizzy.\u201d Does it feel like you\u2019re in space?<\/em> \u201cNot really.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u201cPlay with dolls in a space dollhouse,\u201d a doll-sized model of the International Space Station.<\/em> \u201cYou get to go to the central part. There\u2019s this part that seems like you\u2019re in the Millennium Falcon.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u2022 \u201cI like testing the [space] glove. You have to pick up a block.\u201d<\/p>\n

What did you learn?<\/em><\/p>\n

\u201cI learned if you\u2019re going to go to Mars, you can not bring a lot of stuff. You need a very lot of fuel and I would not like that much fuel because it\u2019s bad for the earth.\u201d<\/p>\n
