\nIt is only now, that I\u2019ve finally returned to civilization that I can finally relate the full account of our journey to the highest peak in Chelsea, Massachusetts<\/a>, on March 1, 2014. The monumental journey was one more leg in our ongoing expedition to scale all the highest peaks in New England. Carrying a tent, afghan, ice scraper and all our other gear on our backs, our three-person team made the arduous ascent to the peak and back in one day. At times, we found ourselves clinging precariously to icy cliffs. Fortunately, Mother Nature was on our side and the weather remained crisp and clear. However, at the summit, we found the snowy hillsides soot black with pollution. It brought metaphorical tears to our eyes to see Mother Nature so despoiled. But nonetheless, we waved Old Glory and smiled as we breathed in the chill mountain air. Then we began the long adventure back down to earth.<\/p>\n
