Somerville Porchfest<\/a> is part hootenanny, part a giant open studios for bands. Inspired by an event in Ithaca, New York, the Somerville version, overseen by the Somerville Arts Council, has inspired porchfests all across the region since it launched in 2011. For the 2024 Somerville Porchfest on Saturday, May 11, more than 475 bands acts were scheduled to perform on porches, in backyards and in parks–including the band Guster, which played on Aberdeen Road, the street where they lived in the late 1990s.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
