The exhibition “New Fonts: Text as Art”<\/a> at the Gateway Arts Gallery, featuring adults with disabilities who participate in their professional development program for people who have talent in fine art and hand crafts, is on view at the gallery from April 4 to June 2, 2023. The exhibition at 60-62 Harvard St., Brookline, was curated by facilitator River Cortes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

“Language and text can be used in countless ways, even within their usual confines,” organizers write. “These artists have elected to include some form of written text in their two-dimensional work, with a variety of results. Sometimes labels enhance the content and composition; sometimes the visual character of the text comprises content of its own; sometimes the text expresses a difficult-to-define impulse unique to the artist.”<\/p>\n\n\n\n
