“Earth Day 2022, Time to Panic! The art of protest in the age of climate crisis” at Storefront Art Projects<\/a>, 83 Spring St. Watertown from April 9 to 30, 2022, explores “the role of protest art in the climate movement. It focuses on the art of one group in particular, Extinction Rebellion (XR), a global environmental movement with a brand. Its members draw attention to the climate crisis, climate justice and ecological collapse through very public acts of civil disobedience and demonstrations using their XR logo and messaging. Posters, banners and symbols display a group united in a righteously rebellious cause: time is running out on us, mass extinction looms. Specific colors, fonts and symbols are combined in many different ways to creatively get the message across,” according to the gallery.<\/p>\n

Curated by Niels Burger and Kevin Shanahan, the exhibition also features work by Sophy Tuttle, (my sweetheart) Kari Percival, Eileen Ryan, Karin Meyers and Paperhand Puppet Intervention “who, working with XR and other groups such as 350 and Mothers Out Front, bringing their skills and ideas to help forge a common vision of a better future.”<\/p>\n
