In May, Boston artist Cedric “Vise1” Douglas painted an 125-foot-long mural on one of the buildings of the former Medfield State Hospital off Hospital Road there, at the back of the property, overlooking a parking area, adjacent to the Charles River Overlook.<\/p>\n

Depicting an egret, butterflies and native plants around a Medfield youth playing a violin, the mural is meant to evoke the \u201chealing power of music, building on the hospital\u2019s legacy of health and wellness,\u201d according to a project press release.<\/p>\n

The project was commissioned by the Cultural Alliance of Medfield<\/a>, as part of its planning for year-round arts programs as it establishes a 24,000-square-foot regional performing arts and education center at the heart of the old hospital\u00a0campus.<\/p>\n
