{"id":16543,"date":"2020-05-26T23:34:51","date_gmt":"2020-05-27T03:34:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/?p=16543"},"modified":"2020-05-30T12:25:34","modified_gmt":"2020-05-30T16:25:34","slug":"zoo","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/2020\/05\/26\/zoo\/","title":{"rendered":"Boston Zoos Begin Reopening May 28"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Franklin Park Zoo in Boston will reopen on May 28, followed by Stone Zoo in Stoneham on May 30, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoonewengland.org\/zoo-news\/2020\/may\/zoo-new-england-announces-reopening-of-franklin-park-zoo-and-stone-zoo-with-new-health-and-safety-measures-in-place\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Zoo New England announced today<\/a>, allowing guests into the facilities for the first time since they were shuttered to stem the spread of coronavirus in mid March.<\/p>\n<p>The reopenings will open first to members through June 3, then to the general public the following day. Only outdoor areas will be available to visitors \u201cas indoor buildings remain closed,\u201d the zoos said.<\/p>\n<p>Guests will be required to purchase tickets online for a designated time slot. The zoos say additional changes include:<br \/>\n\u2022 Online and timed ticketing<br \/>\n\u2022 Guest capacity limits<br \/>\n\u2022 One-way paths to control guest flow<br \/>\n\u2022 Clearly designated 6-foot distance markers<br \/>\n\u2022 Enhanced cleaning protocols<br \/>\n\u2022 More hand sanitizer stations throughout the zoos<br \/>\n\u2022 COVID-19 training for all staff<br \/>\n\u2022 No re-entry once admitted into the zoo<br \/>\n\u2022 Playgrounds and play structures will remain closed during this first phase of reopening<br \/>\n\u2022 Some bathrooms will be open, but with limited capacities and increased cleaning schedules<\/p>\n<p>Still, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.zoonewengland.org\/franklin-park-zoo\/faq\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the zoos\u2019 website warns,<\/a> \u201cAn inherent risk of exposure to COVID-19 exists in any public place where people are present. COVID-19 is an extremely contagious disease that can lead to severe illness and death.
