{"id":16469,"date":"2020-05-10T14:05:51","date_gmt":"2020-05-10T18:05:51","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/?p=16469"},"modified":"2020-05-10T18:15:25","modified_gmt":"2020-05-10T22:15:25","slug":"trustees","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/2020\/05\/10\/trustees\/","title":{"rendered":"Trustees To Reopen DeCordova, Naumkeag, World&#8217;s End, Fruitlands, Crane Beach"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Trustees of Reservations will reopen deCordova Sculpture Park in Lincoln, the grounds of the Fruitlands Museum in Harvard, Naumkeag in Stockbridge, and World\u2019s End in Hingham, and Crane Beach in Ipswich on May 19 \u201con a controlled basis to provide residents of those communities more access to nature during the COVID-19 pandemic,\u201d the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.thetrustees.org\/COVID19\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Massachusetts cultural and land conservation nonprofit announced<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe know how difficult it has been to get outside, get exercise, and connect with nature over the past weeks, and we are pleased and proud to be expanding access to our special places while balancing the need to slow the spread of the virus,\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/thetrustees\/status\/1258749115212738562\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">the Trustees said on Twitter.<\/a>\u00a0The deCordova Museum, Fruitlands Museum and other buildings at the sites &#8220;will remain closed until further notice.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The move is the next step in the gradual reopening of Trustees properties across the region.<\/p>\n<p>On March 24, the Trustees announced: \u201cIn response to the emergency order issued Monday by Governor Charlie Baker, requiring all non-essential businesses and organizations to close, prohibiting gatherings of over 10 people and discouraging unnecessary travel or activities, the Trustees has made the difficult decision to temporarily close all outdoor properties, from Tuesday, March 24 through Sunday, April 7 at noon.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>On April 9, the Trustees reopened 76 properties: \u201cThese are sites that \u202fdo not require staffing and did not experience overcrowding prior to the closures,\u201d the nonprofit said on its website.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"attachment_9149\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-9149\" style=\"width: 900px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-9149\" src=\"https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Sept. 15, 2018: Jim Dine's 1985 sculpture &quot;Two Big Black Hearts.&quot; (Greg Cook)\" width=\"900\" height=\"600\" srcset=\"https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w-768x512.jpg 768w, https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w-370x247.jpg 370w, https:\/\/gregcookland.com\/wonderland\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/10\/picDeCordova180915JimDineTwoBigBlackHearts1985_2511w.jpg 1170w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 900px) 100vw, 900px\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-9149\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">DeCordova Sculpture Park and Museum, Sept. 15, 2018: Jim Dine&#8217;s 1985 sculpture &#8220;Two Big Black Hearts.&#8221; (Greg Cook)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>DeCordova, Fruitlands, Naumkeag and World\u2019s End will be \u201copened in a manner that will limit overcrowding and keep both visitors and staff safe by staying aligned with the\u202fGovernor\u2019s Stay at Home order,\u202fwhich calls for social distancing and staying local.,\u201d the Trustees said. For example, to avoid \u201covercrowding, we are limiting capacity to just 50 percent of our parking lots at these sites.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Crane Beach \u201cwill be open to permit parking holders and Trustees members for two weeks (May 19-June 2) while they test out the operations required to safely open the beach to the general public.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To visit the properties, you\u2019ll have to reserve a parking\u202fpass online. \u201cIn keeping with the Governor\u2019s most recent order, all visitors above the age of two are required to bring and wear a face covering,\u201d the Trustees said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe rest of our 118 properties have remained closed to date due to concerns about overcrowding and inability to physically distance at these sites,\u201d the nonprofit explained. \u201cWe recognize that these are some of our most beloved sites and have been working hard to figure out how to reopen these safely, in line with CDC guidance and the Governor\u2019s directives.
