\u201cFerngully\u201d<\/a>\u2014the exhibition by The Haas Brothers at The Bass Museum of Art in Miami Beach, Florida, from Dec. 5, 2018, to April 21, 2019\u2014takes its name from the 1992 animated film about fairies and a logger endeavoring to save \u201cThe Last Rainforest\u201d from pollution and logging.<\/p>\n

Billed as the \u201cfirst solo museum exhibition\u201d by Los Angels twins Nikolai and Simon Haas, the show offers technicolor cactai, horned two-legged creatures and spotted cartoon aliens. The brothers\u2019 psychedelic world is distinguished because it ranges from sculpture to functional furniture\u2014hairy creature chaises, beaded chairs, and palm tree lamps with woven trunks, copper fronds, beadwork date pods and fiber-optic lights. Their materials include carved ebony, cast bronze, Icelandic sheepskin, and fur from cows, goats and Gotland sheep.<\/p>\n

They often work in partnership with artisans and craft guilds\u2014constructing pieces here in collaboration with The Haas Sisters, a community of bead-working artisans from South Africa, and \u201cthe ladies of Lost Hills in California.\u201d<\/p>\n
