As the Patriots head back to the Super Bowl against the Los Angeles Rams this Sunday evening, Danilchuk Auto Body<\/a> has put up a display, titled “Brady’s Ram Hunting Camp,\u201d out on the lawn facing the northbound side of Route 1A, at Addison Street in East Boston.<\/p>\n

A blue Bronco with Patriots coach Bill Belichick at the wheel has (apparently) crashed head on into a pickup speckled with bullet holes. Along the side of the truck, they\u2019ve painted “Let’s Go Ram Hunting.” A mannequin depicting Patriots quarterback Tom Brady stands upon a platform with a bow and has shot an arrow into the back of the neck of Rams quarterback Jared Goff.<\/p>\n

The auto shop has been celebrating Boston sports championship runs this way since the New England Patriots faced the Green Bay Packers in Super Bowl XXXI January 1997. “It was a huge hit,” says Eric Danilchuk Jr., whose father Eric Sr. started the company. “The customers loved it.” Even though the Patriots lost 35 to 21.<\/p>\n

So they’ve done a new one for each Super Bowl, a couple AFC championship games, and some Red Sox, Bruins and Celtics playoff runs. “All of a sudden the Patriots win and you start brainstorming,” Danilchuk says.<\/p>\n

For the 2012 Super Bowl, they had a Patriots Bronco smashing into a Giants car, which was painted as if it were on fire and a mannequin of Giants quarterback Eli Manning roasting on a spit above. Patriots lost 21 to 17. The auto shop\u2019s 2015 \u201cTrash the Colts\u201d display had a white car pained with the Colts logo in a dumpster. After the Patriots beat the Colts to head to the Super Bowl against Seattle, a Seahawks car was added to the dumpster. Patriots beat Seattle 28 to 24. In 2017, the Patriots Bronco crushed a red Atlanta Falcons car\u2014as the Patriots won 34 to 28. “The Patriots don’t make it easy for us,\u201d Danilchuk says, \u201cbecause they’re in the Super Bowl every year.”<\/p>\n

“Last year, it was pretty controversial,\u201d Danilchuk says. \u201cWe put Philadelphia in a funeral.” They had the Patriots Bronco crushing an Eagles van painted with tombstones and the Grim Reaper. Eagles quarterback Nick Foles lay in a casket on the grass in front. Despite the \u201cBrady\u2019s Funeral Parlor\u201d display, the Patriots lost 41 to 33.<\/p>\n

Who’s going to win this weekend? “The Patriots,\u201d Danilchuk says. \u201cIt’s going to be close. I think it’s going to be a one-score game.” What will be their edge? “Belichick. Game planning.”<\/p>\n
