In St. Louis Shakespeare Festival’s puppet “Romeo & Zooliet,” zoo animals present Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet,” but in this case, “the Montagues are herbivores and the Capulets are carnivores. Can Romeo, a prairie dog, and Juliet, a grizzly bear, cross the biological divide and become best friends?” The company debuted the show in 2025, with puppets by Oregon’s Michael Curry Design, which has worked on Broadway’s “The Lion King” and “Frozen” along with Olympic and Super Bowl ceremonies. This year’s performance is in the Shakespeare Glen in Forest Park in St. Louis from Sept. 24 to Oct. 11.
