A Viking Funeral to mark the one-year anniversary of my Father’s death, April 17, 2017.

My father, who was a community college teacher, raced on friends’ sailboats for most of his life. And he mused now and again about having a Viking Funeral.

So I spent the past couple days building a 4-foot-long Viking ship out of cardboard and paper and tape and string. Then with a small group of friends in attendance, I burned the vessel (no human remains were included) at a secluded Massachusetts beach at sunset.
