Voting to take place next week
We’ve finally compiled the list of all the nominees for the 2011 New England Art Awards, a contest organized by The New England Journal of Aesthetic Research to honor the best art made here, local writing about local art, and exhibits of local art organized here in 2011. Note that this list is raw (mostly) unedited data as it was received from anyone who wished to make nominations – and may include spelling and factual errors as well as nominees that aren’t qualified because, for example, they don’t feature New England artists or local curators. All the rules are here.
We’re working with a team of special advisors to cull the nominations into a manageable ballot for voting. We invited a few to help, a couple responded to our open call for volunteers. The advisors are asked to rank their top six picks in each category. The final ballot will feature the top vote getters in each category from each of these advisors plus The New England Journal of Aesthetic Research, with us breaking ties as necessary.
Voting will begin next week, and all will be welcome to vote. Stay tuned.
Winners will be announced at the Art Awards Ball at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the Burren, 247 Elm St., Somerville, Massachusetts. All are welcome to attend. Admission is free.
