Evan Garza joins SMFA exhibitions department

Evan Garza has been hired by Boston’s School of the Museum of Fine Arts to be its exhibitions and public programs coordinator. The school says this means

“Evan is charged with assisting Joanna Soltan, the SMFA curator, in organizing all exhibitions at the Museum School, including the fall and spring invitationals and all student, faculty and area exhibitions. As well, he works with select SMFA faculty to organize the Visiting Artist Lecture series, which brings celebrated contemporary artists from multiple disciplines to lecture and visit with current students.

“Additionally, Evan is the co-founder of Fire Island Artist Residency (FIAR), the first artist-in-residency program in the United States exclusively for GLBT artists, and is Editor-at-Large for New American Paintings. He is also curating a number of forthcoming exhibitions, including ‘William Cordova: This one’s 4U (pa’ nosotros)’ at the BCA Mills Gallery, February 10–April 15, 2012, and ‘Paint Thing’ (working title), co-curated with Dina Deitsch, for the deCordova Sculpture Park + Museum in winter 2013.”
